DESCRIPTION

. A rhizomatous herbaceous indoor and outdoor plant native to coastal areas of South Africa. Its leaves have long petioles and a leathery texture, ranging in colour from dark greyish-green to bright green. Strelizia is also known by the popular name of "bird-of-paradise flower" for its exotic flowers. Scientific name: Strelitzia reginae.

. Curiosities: The name "Strelitzia" is a tribute to Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who was the wife of King George III of England. Today, it is very popular as a cut flower for decoration and bouquets.

CAREFUL

. Temperature: They thrive in temperatures between 5°C and 25°C, but can withstand lower or higher temperatures. Light: Outdoors in full sun, they are perfect for the garden or terrace, but also adapt to semi-shade or indirect light.
