Aspidistra elatior or Donkey's Ears

DESCRIPTION

Strong and easy to care for. One of the most popular houseplants. Needs very little care and lives in very low light.

Scientific name: Aspidistra elatior.

Curiosities: The name Aspidistra originates from the Greek language and derives from aspidos which translates as shield and shows its strong and durable characteristics. The writer George Orwell has written a novel entitled "Keep the Aspidistra Flying" (original title in English: Keep the Aspidistra Flying).

CARE

Temperature: Temperature between 13-21º C.

Light: Locate in shady places. It does not tolerate direct sun.

Watering: It requires little watering. It can go for long periods without watering. It is advisable to water when the substrate is dry on top.

Abono: Fertilise in spring at the same time as watering, a special fertiliser for green plants is recommended.

Transplanting: Every 1-2 years, in spring. Condition with a light substrate with good drainage.
