Characteristics

Rich in alkaloids, particularly boldine (approximately 30%), flavonoids, glycosides and essential oils (eucalyptol); all the active ingredients in boldo act synergistically, mainly in the liver. It is choleretic (increases bile production), cholagogue (accelerates emptying of the gallbladder), a powerful hepatoprotector and eupeptic (facilitates digestion). It is also slightly laxative and diuretic. For all these reasons, boldo is perfect to take after a heavy meal. Dosage: Take 4 tablets per day. Avoid consumption together with medicines and other fibre-based food supplements. Excessive consumption of fructooligosaccharides may cause intestinal discomfort.
